'Celina Connection' Leads Toledo Notre Dame Academy
The coaching staff is made up of three former Celina residents, Head Coach Chip Smith (Class of 1995), Associate Head Coach Dave Skoczyn (former Celina Bulldog Boys Coach - 1996-2001) and his son, Goalkeeper Coach, David Skoczyn, also a Celina grad.
Together Smith and Skoczyn have impressive coaching careers and now the two have put together a program at the all-girls school that has gained State and National attention.
Eagle Head Coach Chip SmithIt was definitely a great year.
Dave and I have been coaching at NDA since 2011.
When I was hired he was the first person I called.
Of course, I have known Dave for years as a '95 Alum but he also coached me when I was younger.
Dave is the Associated Head Coach at NDA. We both work with the varsity but oversee the entire program.
In our six years at NDA we have steadily built the program into a competitive one.
We reached the program's first district final in 2012 (losing 1-0), then reached the final again in 2013 and won the program's first ever district championship. We also won the program's first Three Rivers Athletic Conference title and reached the Regional semi-finals.
In 2014, we again reached the District final but lost in a shootout.
This year, quite simply, we made program history. The team finished 17-2-2, top 25 in the country, league, District, Regional Champs (1st in program), and advanced to the state semi-finals for the first time in school history.
I've loved every second of having Dave as my assistant. Together we've worked hard to try and turn NDA into the premier program in Northwest Ohio.
Associate Head Coach Dave SkoczynWe have continued our great relationship. This was truly a special year for us at NDA!!
