Metz Checks Off 500 Wins In Her Career
“Amazing, a dream come true”
Coach Kim Metz talks about the accomplishment and her 29 year career:I drive to all of my away contests for 26 of the 29 years. I'm not sure if that's characteristic of many coaches. It keeps my mind clear and I don't have to worry about waiting. When we are ready to go, we go.
I still wash my team's uniforms. Not sure how many years and I've only forgotten to bring them for one game. Had to call a parent to pick them up at my house to bring before our game. Yes, it was away!
My husband video's almost all of my matches. It's a joint venture.
Can't say enough about the teams I've had the privilege to coach! They have worked hard to make to build the program year in and year out. Everyone of them own the team's they have played on.
Jackson Center is a great place to live and thrive. The support from school and community is amazing. It's the only place I've coached. Can't imagine being anywhere else.
Last year Metz led the Tigers to their first ever state title beating Tuscarawas Central Catholic in three games. It was Jackson Center's third trip to the Final Four, they were runner-ups in 2008.
Winning 500 games is big for any high school volleyball program, to accomplish that after winning a state title and then comeback with a season like this year has to rank Metz and the Tigers as one of the all-time great teams in SCAL sports and the state of Ohio.
#1 seed Jackson Center will hope to win their second state title in a row starting this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Troy against Dayton Jefferson, the winner will play 0-16 Bradford in the semifinals.
