'Best of the Best' Receivers From Mercer County

Only players who hold their school's record are listed above.

(9-29-16) - Three different receiving catagories, three different all-time leaders. This group is very impressive and have the numbers to show for it.

Currently tied for 11th in the OHSAA state record book is the top single game total in Mercer County, 303 Yards by St. Henry's Randy Hemmelgarn vs. Mogadore in 1996. The Redskins would lose in a marathon Div VI state final 61-58 in three overtimes.

Hemmelgarn is also the 2nd all-time career receiver with 2,915 yards over his career (1993-96). He never had a season of over 1,000 yards.

Marion Local's Hunter Wilker

Hunter Wilker Junior highlights

Marion Local's Hunter Wilker, is the all-tme career receiver leader in Mercer County, with 3,445 yards and was one of the main reasons during his career that the Flyers racked up win after win. A big help in his career numbers, was ending every season in a state final game and he had a lot to do with that.

Coldwater's Reese Klenke, leads the Cavaliers in all three school record catagories. He is second in Mercer County single game yards with a 227 yard game, leads Mercer County for the most yards in a single season with 1,750 yards and had 2,584 yards in receptions over his career.

Celina's Chad Highley, leads all the Bulldog career receiving records for the green and white (1996-98).

1991 Ohio High School Regional Championship basketball game. Last second shot by Jill Froning for unranked Celina wins the game over Ohio's #1 rated Pickerington (were also rated in USA Today Top 5)...Celina went on to win the Ohio D1 State Championsip game. Game was played at Bellefontaine HS, Dave Schmidt doing the play-by-by for Celina Cable TV.
