All-Time Mercer County Football Coaches Winning Records

The all-time wins leader is the only coach listed for each Mercer County school

(10-5-16) Taking a look at the football coaching records of each Mercer County school is quite impressive. Every coach listed, except for one, has a State title to his name. The one coach who doesn't is Celina's Jerry Harris, but he was the first county coach to take his team to a State Final game in 1983 before losing to Tom Tupa and Brecksville.

Two of the coaches listed are still active, All-Time Mercer County coaching wins leader Tim Goodwin picked up his 200th coaching win at Marion Local earlier this season. Goodwin has eight State Titles (2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) and two State Runner-up trophies (2003 and 2015). Ft. Recovery's Brent Niekamp, who led the Indians to their first DVII State Title in 2015, picked up his 50th win at the school last week.

St. Henry Coach Tim Boeckman checks in at #2, with 195 wins at St. Henry and four State titles (1990, 1992, 1994 and 1995) and was State Runner-up twice (1996, 1999).

The late John Reed of Coldwater is in third place, Reed coached his final game in 2009 and took the Cavaliers to the State Final game before losing. Reed paased away in May of 2010 after a battle with cancer. Reed, who coached at Parkway in the 1970's, also has most career wins as Panther coach.

Boeckman and Reed entered the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association's Hall of Fame together in 2007.

Not on the list is Coldwater's Chip Otten (2010-present), who replaced Reed in 2010, he currently has 85 wins, including four State titles (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015) and has been State Runner-up twice (2010 and 2011).

Marion Local's Ken Meyer had 121 career wins for the Flyers during his time as Head Coach (1978-1996) and took them to their first palyoff game.
