Coldwater Sweeps WOHSBC Titles

(2-11-17) The West Ohio High School Bowling Conference held it's Championship weekend in Lima at Westgate Lanes. The format matched up the the north and the south divisions and the winner of the WOHSBC was determined by the results between the regular-season divisional winners and placings.

Coldwater swept both the boys and girls titles. In the boys match Coldwater nipped Wapakoneta by just three pins, 3,184-3,181. The Cavs were led by Caden Seitz who rolled a 225 and 267, Jason Wenning, bowling just in the second round threw a 268, Trey James had a 256, Ben Schmitmeyer 222 and Nathan Gerke had a 201.

In other matches, Shawnee beat St. Henry 3,261-3,118 in the second place matches, Celina beat Versailles 2,831-2,765 third place match-up, with Alison Lehman rolling a 204 and Bailee Kelch a 201./

in the seventh place finishers Lima Senior beat Marion Local 2,674-2,614 and in the ninth place match Ft. Recovery beat Parkway 2,680-2,390.

The Coldwater girls made it a clean sweep beating St. Marys 2,650-2,402. Paige Hartings had a 215 and Carlie Schoenherr rolled a 201 to help clinch the Championship.

In other matches, in the fourth place match-up Celina beat Mississinawa Valley 2,547-2,176, Marion Local nipped Ottawa-Glandorf 2,084-2,052 (sixth-place finishers) and Fort Loramie rolled past Parkway 2,059- 2,001 (eight-place finishers).

1991 Ohio High School Regional Championship basketball game. Last second shot by Jill Froning for unranked Celina wins the game over Ohio's #1 rated Pickerington (were also rated in USA Today Top 5)...Celina went on to win the Ohio D1 State Championsip game. Game was played at Bellefontaine HS, Dave Schmidt doing the play-by-by for Celina Cable TV.
