Wapakoneta Wins 4th Straight WBL Girls Tennis Title

When you talk girls tennis in the WBL, you talk the recent dominance of Wapakoneta. The Redskins have won four consecutive titles, 2013, 2014, 2015 and now 2016. Wapakoneta has not lost a conference match (36-0) or tournament meet since the 2012 season. Now that's very impressive in any sport.

Wapakoneta was led by Madison Watt who picked up the 1st singles title, Allie Zofkie picked up the 2nd singles tile and in 3rd singles Cassidy Hughes was the runner-up. In doubles, Kate Henderson and MaKayla Schroeder won the 1st double title and Lauren Snider and Madison Schroeder were runner-ups in 2nd doubles.

Meanwhile Shawnee would pick up the two other titles, Whitney Baxter won the 3rd singles title and Bree Barker and Rachel Brogee won 2nd doubles.

Last second shot by Jill Froning for unranked Celina wins the game over Ohio's #1 rated Pickerington (were also rated in USA Today Top 5)...Celina went on to win the Ohio D1 State Championsip game. Game was played at Bellefontaine HS, Dave Schmidt doing the play-by-by for Celina Cable TV.
