Strength of the team

The strength of our team is our Senior core. Those 4 are all big, strong, athletic kids who have put in a great deal of work. Two-year all league Micaiah Cox returning at the forward position. Matt Bihn, Jason Roessner, and Caleb Martin all played significant minutes last year.

Weakness of team

Our depth will be a bit of an unknown. The 4 juniors listed above will all see significant Varsity action for the first time. How they will adjust to the size, speed and pace of Varsity action will be crucial for our team.

Conference outlook

I think the conference championship will run through last years champion-the Versailles Tigers. With them returning a top player in Ohio along with several athletic guys around him, they are going to be a challenge to defeat. Another team that I think will flirt with a conference crown will be Delphos St. John's. With Tim Krieger down low and much improved play around him and top of the line coaching, they will be at the top of the league.

Goals for this season

We are always going to shoot for a MAC championship and a district championship. We feel we have the pieces to make these happen, and then continue to push on from there.

First scheduled game

Dec. 2 at St. Marys

MARION LOCAL

Head Coach Kurt Goettemoeller

Returning players?

Tyler Mescher (6'1, Jr.), Nathan Bruns (6'3 soph.) returning starters from last year. Seniors Kyle Koenig (6'1), Ryan Thobe (6'0) and Matt Kahlig (6'5) came off the bench last year.

Key player(s) lost?

Cole Griesdorn, Derek Albers, ?Kyle Homan

New additions you are counting on

?We won't have full squad until football is finished, so it is tough to tell at this point. There should be some good competition for playing time.

Strength of team?

improving commitment to get better everyday.

? Weakness of team

will have to overcome some inexperience at key positions and lack of practice time early in the season.

MAC Outlook?

Versailles returns most players from last years' MAC champ squad. A number of teams have talent returning to challenge them. ?

Goals for this season?

Try to get better everyday learning to be consistent with our preparation. ?Play our best basketball in February and March.

First scheduled game

Wapakoneta 12/9?

TEAM OUTLOOK

We must be able to defend, rebound, and take care of the basketball in order to be successful. Our players have worked very hard in the off season to make this a memorable season.

MAC OUTLOOK

It should be another very competitive year in the Midwest Athletic Conference. I look for a number of teams to vie for the Championship. I would have to think that Versailles is the team to beat.

ST. HENRY

Head Coach Eric Rosenbeck

Last year’s record: 18-7, [7-2 in MAC] Lost in District Finals to Lima Perry

Tyler Schlarman, 6’0 Junior Forward
Nathan Lefeld, 6’2 Senior Forward
Curtis Uhlenhake, 6’2 Junior Center
Caden Niekamp, 6’6 Sophomore Center
Cody Bruggeman, 5’9 Freshmen Point Guard
MAC Outlook

Versailles – Justin Ahrens and company really give Versailles a ton of athletic ability with basketball skill to back it up, Delphos St. Johns – Return about every single player and Coach Elwer is an excellent coach and Ft. Recovery – Return a lot of talent and will be in Coach Guggenbiller’s system for a 3rd year

Team Outlook

We have an opportunity to have a successful season if we can improve our mental toughness and overall skill level. Blake Hoyng, Mitch Schwieterman and Nathan Lefeld will have to provide the senior leadership needed for a very inexperienced team.

Strengths

Over the summer we proved ourselves to be a tough, physical basketball team. Hopefully, this will lead to a strong defensive minded team that plays as hard or harder than any team in the area.

Weaknesses

We are way too inconsistent in every aspect – shooting, passing, ball handling, etc. – of the game. We need to clean up the fundamentals of basketball if we have any chance of meeting the goals we have set for ourselves.
